How to play Chess Puzzle
- Every puzzle starts in the middle of a real game — it is your move, and there's a winning idea to find.
- Play the best move; the opponent replies, and you continue until the puzzle is solved.
- New to chess? The pieces move as normal chess pieces do — the puzzle is about spotting the tactic, not learning the rules from zero.
- Modes: Daily Puzzle (same for everyone), Practice a Concept (drill forks, pins, mates…), Play the Bot (a full game vs three strengths), and Play a Person.
Controls. Tap the piece you want to move, then tap the square it should go to. Legal destinations are hinted.
Scoring
You build a real puzzle rating (like a chess rating) that rises when you solve harder puzzles and dips when you miss easy ones. Beating the bot earns a bragging card.
Strategy tips
- Always check for checks, captures, and threats first — the answer is usually forcing.
- Look for a move that attacks two things at once (a fork).
- In 'Play a Concept', pick the tactic you want to get better at and drill it.
A chess PUZZLE starting mid-game is correct and normal — that's what a tactics puzzle is. Use 'Play the Bot' for a whole game from the start.
