How to play WordWise
- Type any real 5-letter word and press Enter — it's a probe to learn about the hidden word.
- Each letter you guess lights up: 🟩 green = correct letter in the correct spot; 🟨 yellow = the letter is in the word but somewhere else; ⬛ gray = the letter isn't in the word at all.
- Use those clues to make a smarter next guess. Repeat until you crack it or run out of guesses.
- Everyone gets the same word each day, so you can compare with friends.
Controls. Type on your keyboard, or tap the on-screen letters. Enter submits; ⌫ deletes.
Scoring
Fewer guesses is better (a 2 or 3 is excellent). Solve it on consecutive days to build a streak. A win or loss posts a spoiler-free colored-grid card to your groups.
Strategy tips
- Start with a word full of common letters (like SLATE or CRANE) to learn a lot fast.
- When a letter turns yellow, move it to a DIFFERENT position next guess — never leave it where it already failed.
- Don't waste guesses reusing gray letters you've already ruled out.
Turn the in-play Coach on in Settings and it'll nudge you when a guess wastes information.
