How to play Go Problem
- Go is played by placing stones on the line intersections of a grid.
- A stone's 'liberties' are the empty points directly next to it. A stone or connected group with zero liberties is captured and removed.
- Each problem is a puzzle: there's one right move that captures, saves a group, or makes it live.
- Read the prompt (e.g. 'Black to capture'), then place the stone that solves it.
Controls. Tap an empty intersection to place a black stone. A green ✓ means you solved it; a red ✗ shows why a move fails.
Scoring
Choose a saved level from 1 to 10, with 50 problems at each level. Three consecutive first-try wins earn an invitation to advance; accept it or keep practicing. A wrong answer breaks the streak, and a retry does not count toward advancement. Wrong moves get a coached explanation.
Strategy tips
- Count the liberties of the target group before you play — the winning move usually removes the last one.
- A move that reduces a group to one liberty puts it in 'atari' (about to be captured).
- Look at the edges and corners — stones there have fewer liberties and die faster.
